Meeting twice a year, the Board of Visitors is an alumni and College support group that enhances the College’s ability to accomplish its mission by personal involvement and connecting business leaders committed to the Culverhouse College of Business to the administration, faculty, staff, and student body of the College.
Description: The Dean shall select Board members to serve 2-4 year terms as President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Chairs of the Board Committees. These officers will meet regularly with the Dean to discuss College matters and be leaders of the Board as well as advocates for the Dean.
Tasks/Goal: To work directly with the Dean on matters pertaining to the Board of Visitors; act as a role model to the Board members and provide leadership and direction for the Board activities, including financial status updates on the College and the Board of Visitors.
Description: Works with the College staff to properly vet and move potential Board members through the voting process with the Board of Visitors. The term of membership is 2-4 years.
Tasks/Goal: Board members use their network to assist the College in vetting potential Board members as well as nominate individuals who would be an asset to the College on the Board.
Description: The annual awards are intended to recognize faculty who do an exemplary job across all facets of academia. Emphasis will be given to the impact of the awardee’s work on students, businesses, and the broader community. The term of membership is 2-4 years.
Description: Members of the Development Committee work with the Dean and the College’s development staff on development initiatives. The term of membership is 2-4 years.
Tasks/Goal: Board members assist with College development activities, including but not limited to:
Description: Provide guidance and support to expand the College’s global initiatives. Committee and member activities will focus on (a) providing ongoing strategic insight into the internationalization of the College, (b) assisting with international business and geopolitical connections, and (c) creating, participating in, and/or supporting activities to enhance student development from an international perspective including study and internships abroad, cross-cultural class projects, College-sponsored international events, and globally-focused professional development seminars, site visits, and trips.
Description: Provide guidance and serve as a sounding board as the College and its entrepreneurship faculty expand activities with respect to curriculum/academic programs and co-curricular programs (Start-Up Weekend, PITCH, business plan competitions, The EDGE), regional engagement, etc.
Description: Provide support and guidance on the College’s internal and external marketing and communications efforts. The term of membership is 2-4 years.
Tasks/Goals: Board members will assist with College marketing staff in activities including but not limited to:
Description: Provide additional feedback on the College’s vision, strategies, and initiatives. All current Associate BOV members serve on the committee with no term limits. The Chair of the committee will serve a 2-4 year term.
Tasks/Goals:
Description: Provide guidance and support for elevating culture and success for the College. Member activities will emphasize providing strategic input, serving as a sounding board, and helping facilitate external relationships that further College efforts.
Description: To serve as a sounding board for expanding the College’s signature learning experiences which includes experiential learning, exploration trips, other.
Tasks/Goal:
Description: To work with the College staff to facilitate professional and career development opportunities for our students. Term of membership is 2-4 years.
Objectives: Work in tandem with College staff to (a) enhance professional development opportunities for our students and (b) broaden the corporate network available to our students.
Tasks/Goal: Engage in or use your network to find companies and professionals interested in engaging in activities including but not limited to:
• Mentoring our students
• Hiring our students for co-ops, internships, and jobs
• Developing and executing professional development events (on/off campus)
